Applying Research to Reality.

  • The Section 150-77 Project

If your home became unlivable due to Hurricane Katrina, we invite you to join a pilot project to reclaim property owned by the City of New Orleans, as per Section 150-77 of the New Orleans Municipal Code. This is your chance to rebuild and reclaim what is yours.

  • NOLA Repurposed

Developers, investors, and supporters of 1735 plan to reuse every empty property by 2035. This program assists those wanting to create affordable housing by fixing up abandoned and problem properties, often at a lower cost than usual methods.

  • Peaces of History

Discover the "Peaces of History" program at 1735 NOLA, where we offer affordable historical research services. Whether you need information about properties or your family history, we are here to help you uncover the past.

A PURPOSE TO REPURPOSE

37,000

Ten years before Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans had over 37,000 properties seized by the city for unpaid taxes, many of which were rundown and empty. By 2035, 1735 NOLA plans to restore all neglected and tax-delinquent properties taken by the city by 2025.

$10,000

1735 NOLA has been awarded $10,000 by the New Orleans Recreation and Culture Fund sponsored by the New Orleans City Council. With this grant 1735NOLA has relaunched after Hurricane Ida to acquire at least 35 of eligilble properties. 17 of these properties will be donated to nonprofits.

2035

We believe that with the help of everyone who wants a better New Orleans, we can restore every vacant and run-down property. This will increase property values, boost tax revenue for schools, and support essential city services. Every part of our city—residential, commercial, and communal—has a purpose.
